Earth System Science (ESS) programme at the Research Center for Environmental Changes (RCEC), Academia Sinica, Taipei.
Taiwan in my opinion one of the best places to have your higher education prospects. I came to Taiwan for my Master’s degree at the Graduate Institute of Earth Science of Chinese Culture University, Taipei, Taiwan and now I’m continuing my Ph.D. degree here. High education reputation, friendly local community, safe and modern living environment with super-efficient public transportation were some of the key aspects that held me back to stay here in Taiwan for my Ph.D.
Currently, I’m attached to the Taiwan International Graduate programme (TIGP) – Earth System Science (ESS) programme at the Research Center for Environmental Changes (RCEC), Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan and affiliated with the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, College of Earth Science, National Central University, Zhongli, Taiwan. My research is focused on the effect of urban heat island issue on local weather systems, mesoscale weather modelling of extreme events and climate change impact assessments. I work at the Aerosols, Air quality & Regional climate changes (AAR) modeling lab under the supervision of Dr. Chuan-Yao Lin, a research fellow at RCEC.
There is a world-class academic and research community in Taiwan and the intellectual environment here in Taiwan is conducive to the nurturing of young scholars. I have made life-long connections and obtained relevant skills and techniques while studying in Taiwan which will provide a head start to a career in research and teaching in the years to come. After all these years in Taiwan, I do not hesitate to call it my second home.
